Chris Campbell’s work like Karin Noyes, uses clay canes but for Campbell they are earthen clay canes rather than polymer ones. She has done a good deal of work involving much more pictorial canes, but also a fair amount of more abstract patterning as well.
Some of my favorite of her work comes from her Maritime Blues Series work:
Her more recent work is a little less aesthetically interesting to me, but still incredibly beautiful.
On her website she gives a good deal of basic instruction to get you started working with earthen clay canes and colored clays, as well as information on where to find her workshops (one of which I hope to go to in August!).
